Audible Goodness: Producer Spotlight Extras

With our weekly themes, Kevin and I separately generate a list of songs that could fill up the entire show on their own.  To this point, we have simply let these tracks fall by the wayside and our fellow listener does not have the opportunity to experience these unplayed gems.  These pre-show postings will unleash a few of these gems, allowing a more thorough experience of a particular artist or featuring some artists that did not make the show.

This particular extra delves further into the productions of Damu the Fudgemunk, producer extraordinaire from DC, member of Y Society, and has been known to rock pigtails and a bowtie.  This man is amazing.  The track below is a mix of a promo track for the album "How it Should Sound",  "When the Winter Comes (feat Buff1)", and "The Bright Side (Remix)" off of Supply for Demand which dropped rather recently.  Enjoy these and get excited for the show on Saturday.

Lupe Fiasco ft. Travis Barker "Joaquin Phoenix"

Lupe has been coming out with some fire lately, in preparation for his new album, Lasers, due out March 8th. Many of the songs (Show Goes On, Words I Never Said, Never Forget You) have already been out on the nets, so Lupe's been coming with some fire freestyles. In the past week he has gone in over Nicki Minaj's "Moment 4 Life", Kanye's "Monster", and two tracks I will never listen to the originals of, Birdman's "Fire Flame" and Prodigy's "Girls". Check out his newest below, a song off Travis Barker's (the only real talent from Blink-182, although those days are long behind him) mixtape. Its called Joaquin Phoenix. "That Joaquin Phoenix Facebook flow" is one of the weirder things I have heard Lupe say, but the track is still hot.

Note: Pete and I still haven't decided whether were going to post places to download music, or just direct you to other site. For now, check out http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/singles/id.13949/title.travis-barker-f-lupe-fiasco-joaquin-phoenix for Phoenix and http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/gowhere-hip-hop/2011/02/lupe-fiasco-monster-girls-fire-flame-freestyles.html and http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/gowhere-hip-hop/2011/02/lupe-fiasco-lasers-manifesto-moment-4-life-freestyle-leads-new-music-update.html for the freestyles.

We have a blog

Welcome to the official blog for Back on the Scene, one of your favorite radio shows on 91.7 WMCN Macalester College.  We desired for a way to reach out to our three to five fans, so we are using the same medium through which we have discovered much of our music.  You can expect the shows to be posted here, along with additional music from the weekly theme as well as event updates, videos and such.  It should be a really great time, and definitely we'll work on the content of this blog over the next week.  Stay tuned.
